At BUILDNET, trust matters long before a property transaction takes place.
Whether you are exploring a home, considering a real estate investment, requesting an Investor Pack, speaking with an Investment Advisor, or already own a BUILDNET property, you may share personal information with us as part of that relationship.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.
By using our website, submitting an enquiry, requesting information, subscribing to our communications, or otherwise interacting with BUILDNET, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. About BUILDNET
BUILDNET is a Uganda-based real estate development and property management company providing residential property and professionally managed real estate investment opportunities.
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “BUILDNET”, “we”, “our” and “us” refer to BUILDNET and, where applicable, the entity responsible for determining how your personal data is collected and used.

2. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through the BUILDNET website and through related interactions with prospective buyers, investors, property owners and other individuals who engage with us.
This may include information collected when you request a callback, request an Investor Pack, enquire about a property, book an investor conversation, subscribe to our newsletter, communicate with an Investment Advisor, request customer support, reserve or purchase a property, or engage with services connected to property ownership or management.
Separate terms, contracts or privacy notices may also apply to particular transactions or services.
3. Information We May Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with BUILDNET.
Contact and Identity Information
We may collect information such as your first and last name, telephone number, WhatsApp number, email address, country of residence and other contact details you choose to provide.
Where a property transaction requires formal identification or documentation, we may also request identity or verification information reasonably required to complete that process or comply with applicable legal and contractual requirements.
Property and Investment Information
When you enquire about a BUILDNET property or investment opportunity, we may collect information about what you are looking for.
This may include whether you are interested in a home or an investment, preferred property or unit type, location preferences, investment objectives, approximate budget, investment timeframe, country of residence and other information you voluntarily provide to help us understand your requirements.
Transaction and Client Information
If you decide to proceed with a reservation, purchase, investment or property management relationship, we may collect information reasonably required to administer that relationship.
This may include reservation information, payment records, contracts, correspondence, ownership documentation, instructions, property details and information connected to the administration or management of your property.
Communications
We may keep records of communications you have with BUILDNET through email, telephone, WhatsApp, website forms, customer support channels or conversations with our Investment Advisors.
Website and Technical Information
When you use our website, certain technical information may be collected automatically through our website systems or service providers.
Depending on the technologies in use, this may include your internet protocol address, browser type, device information, referring website, pages visited, date and time of access and information about how visitors interact with our website.
Information Provided by Other People
In some circumstances, information about you may be provided by a person acting on your behalf or with your authority, such as a spouse, lawyer, financial advisor, banker, representative, referring client or professional advisor.
Where appropriate, we may take reasonable steps to verify the authority under which such information is provided.
4. How We Use Your Information
BUILDNET collects and uses personal information for legitimate property, investment, client service and administrative purposes.
We may use your information to respond to enquiries; arrange callbacks, meetings or consultations with Investment Advisors; send requested property information or Investor Packs; understand whether a property opportunity may be suitable for your stated requirements; provide information about pricing, payment structures, available units and property documentation; process reservations and property transactions; prepare or administer contractual and ownership documentation; provide customer support; manage relevant post-purchase or property management services; maintain appropriate business and transaction records; operate, secure and improve our website; prevent fraud or misuse; comply with legal, regulatory, accounting or contractual requirements; and communicate with you about BUILDNET services and opportunities where permitted.
We aim to collect information that is relevant to a genuine business purpose and not more information than is reasonably necessary for that purpose.
5. Investor and Buyer Communications
If you ask to receive information from BUILDNET, we may contact you regarding the property, investment opportunity or service you requested.
If you separately agree to receive marketing communications, investor updates, newsletters, project announcements or similar communications, we may also use the contact information you provided for those purposes.
Receiving general marketing communications is not a condition of purchasing a BUILDNET property.
You may ask us to stop sending direct marketing communications at any time by using an unsubscribe or preference option where available or by contacting BUILDNET directly.
Stopping promotional communications does not prevent us from contacting you where communication is reasonably necessary for an existing transaction, contractual relationship, property management matter, service request or legal obligation.
6. Consent and Lawful Processing
Where consent is required, BUILDNET will seek to collect and use personal information with appropriate consent.
Depending on the circumstances, information may also be processed where another lawful basis permitted by applicable law applies, including where processing is reasonably necessary to respond to a request you have made, take steps toward or perform an agreement with you, meet legal or regulatory obligations, protect legitimate business or legal interests, prevent fraud, or establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
Where our processing depends specifically on your consent, you may withdraw that consent, subject to any legal or contractual limitations that may continue to apply.
7. Sharing Personal Information
BUILDNET may share personal information where doing so is reasonably necessary to provide a service, administer a transaction, meet a request you have made or comply with applicable law.
Information may therefore be made available to authorised BUILDNET employees and Investment Advisors who need it to assist you.
Where relevant to a transaction and appropriately authorised, information may also be shared with professional advisors, lawyers, financial institutions, banking partners, property managers, contractors, consultants or other parties involved in providing or administering the relevant service.
We may use third-party technology providers to support functions such as website hosting, email delivery, customer relationship management, communications, analytics, document management, data storage or other business operations. Such providers may process information on our behalf subject to their role and the arrangements governing that processing.
We may also disclose information where required by law, regulation, court order or a competent public authority, or where reasonably necessary to protect BUILDNET, our clients or other persons against fraud, misuse, security threats or unlawful activity.
BUILDNET does not disclose personal information to unrelated third parties simply because an individual has made a property enquiry.
8. Banks, Lawyers and Professional Advisors
Many BUILDNET clients, particularly investors based outside Uganda, choose to have a spouse, lawyer, banker, financial advisor or other professional review an opportunity before making a decision.
We respect that process.
Where you specifically ask us to communicate with or provide documents to such a person, we may use the contact details and instructions you provide for that purpose.
Before sharing personal or transaction-specific information with another person, we may request confirmation that you have authorised the disclosure.
9. International and Diaspora Clients
BUILDNET works with Ugandans and other clients who may be located outside Uganda.
As a result, communications, technology providers or business systems used in serving you may in some circumstances involve the processing or storage of personal information outside Uganda.
Where personal information is processed or stored outside Uganda, BUILDNET will seek to handle such transfers in accordance with applicable data protection requirements, including requirements relating to appropriate safeguards, adequate protection or consent where necessary.
10. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate website functionality, remember preferences, understand how visitors use the website, improve performance, maintain security or support relevant communications and marketing activities.
Some cookies may be necessary for the website to function properly. Other technologies may be provided by third-party services integrated into or linked from our website.
Where legally required, appropriate choices regarding non-essential cookies should be presented to website visitors.
You may also be able to control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some technologies may affect the way certain website features operate.
11. Third-Party Platforms and External Websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services, including communication, recruitment, banking, social media, video, scheduling or other external platforms.
If you leave the BUILDNET website or interact directly with a third-party service, that third party may collect and process information under its own privacy terms.
BUILDNET is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third-party websites or platforms that it does not control.
12. Information Security
Property transactions involve trust, and personal information deserves the same level of seriousness.
BUILDNET seeks to maintain reasonable administrative, organisational and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, misuse, disclosure or destruction.
Access to personal information should be limited to individuals and service providers who require it for legitimate business purposes.
No website, electronic communication or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. For that reason, please avoid sending highly sensitive identity, financial or transaction documents through an ordinary public website form unless BUILDNET has specifically requested them through an appropriate channel.
13. Data Retention
BUILDNET retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for any additional period required by applicable legal, contractual, tax, accounting, regulatory, dispute-resolution or recordkeeping obligations.
Different categories of information may therefore be kept for different periods.
When personal information is no longer required and there is no lawful reason to continue retaining it, we will seek to delete, destroy or appropriately de-identify it in accordance with applicable requirements and our internal procedures.
14. Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law and any lawful limitations, you may have the right to ask what personal information BUILDNET holds about you, request access to that information, request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information, object to or request restriction of certain processing, ask us to stop using your personal information for direct marketing, withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, and request deletion of information that BUILDNET is no longer legally authorised or required to retain.
Where applicable, you may also have rights relating to decisions made solely through automated processing that significantly affect you.
To exercise a privacy right, contact us at sales@buildnet.co.ug using the subject line "Privacy Request."
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request so that personal information is not disclosed or changed at the request of an unauthorised person.
We will address valid requests within the period required by applicable law.
15. Complaints
If you have concerns about how BUILDNET has collected, used, stored or shared your personal information, we encourage you to contact us first so that the concern can be reviewed.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with Uganda's Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) or another competent data protection authority where applicable.
16. Children
BUILDNET's property and investment services are directed toward adults capable of entering into property and investment-related transactions.
We do not intentionally seek personal information from children through our investor or property enquiry process.
Where information concerning a child must legitimately be processed in connection with ownership, succession, guardianship or another lawful matter, BUILDNET will seek to apply the additional protections and permissions required by applicable law.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
BUILDNET may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, website, technology, business processes or legal requirements.
When material changes are made, the revised version will be published on our website with an updated effective or revision date.
We encourage website visitors and clients to review the Privacy Policy periodically.
